Nell Minow RogerEbert.com [The film's] moments of the girls enjoying their friendship have an appealing freshness that almost matches the quality of the bangers on the soundtrack. Rated: 3/4 Dec 3, 2021 Full Review Michael Nordine Variety Valerie Weiss' very-young-adult dramedy is... a (deep) cut above the usual tween fare. Dec 2, 2021 Full Review Chelsie Derman The Young Folks Ultimately, the heartfelt Mixtape isn't only about remembering the past and taking something from it. It's about making new friends and memories, too. Rated: 9/10 Dec 15, 2021 Full Review Johnny Loftus Decider With a great lead performance from young Gemma Brooke Allen, Mixtape finds its heartwarming message in notes of fun nostalgia and some post-punk volume. Leandro T it explores modern kids who are interested in old rock music,(which I am) and does a pretty good job telling there stories. If you watch it, you might love it, you might hate it Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Matthew B Fantastic coming of age film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/01/23 Full Review Jana F Love the storyline, motivation, that feeling i get when i am inspired, toggling down my spine when i watched this. LOVED IT SM> Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review meredith w "Mix Tape" is a feel-good story set in 1999, when 12-year-old Beverly (Gemma Brooke Allen) who lives with her grandmother Gail (Julie Bowen) after her parents died in a car crash, one day finds a mixtape from her parents and begins a journey to discover more about them. Her journey of discovery is quite joyful and there is a lovely nostalgia to her relationship with her best friends and the era in which it is set, millennium bug fear and all. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review emily w Cheesy rubbish. Shallow characters, predictable plot which turns out exactly as predicted. A boring way to spend an hour and a half.
