Audience Member A MUST SEE for anyone who is a sci-fi fan, or appreciates an excellent storyline. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Originaly this was a 43 episodes long series from Japan. But I first saw these in Movie Format divided in a trilogy. It is in my opinion a Space opera, like Star Wars. Great Story, great Characters and though the animation is somewhat crude in some moments, in others is a pleasure to the eyes. With amazing Giant Robot action and friends betraying one another, it makes for great space drama. Now for some reason I cannot find The first of the Movies here on flixster(only posted are the 2nd and 3rd movie) I am giving the whole Trilogy a 5 star rating. LIke The Lord Of the Rings, you really cannot pick a specific "favorite" part. (well I can) However it is an enjoyable ride through space and earth alike and great not only for The geeks out there but for all who appreciate great storytelling. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This could be the best threequel ever made. Usually the third film in a franchise or a trilogy is where the filmmakers drop the ball, examples including RETURN OF THE JEDI, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, SUPERMAN III...the list goes on. But in this movie, Yoshiyuki Tomino delivers on most of the stuff he set up in the first two films, making this finale one that is a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, although he would explore these characters further in ZETA GUNDAM and GUNDAM ZZ before bidding them farewell in CHAR'S COUNTERATTACK. Sure the animation is dated, but the story is great and it doesn't cheat you in the end, making this a saga one that sci-fi and anime fans shouldn't miss. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The animation is dated and this is a collection of the final eps of the first ever Gundam series, but if you want to get a sense of the Gundam world, I highly recommend watching at least this movie. Z-Gundam picks up after this and it's my fave storyline. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Excuse me while I nerd out here, but any thing Gundam gets my "White Glove Treatment." Mobile Suit Gundam is the definitive Japanese mecha anime franchise. Similar to Star Trek, both franchises started as television series that were prematurely canceled, only to find a second life in feature films and spin-offs. In 1981 and 1982, the Original Gundam series was released into 3 feature films. This is the third one, Mobile Suit Gundam III: "Meguriai Sora" (Encounters in Space). Picking up from the second compilation movie "Ai Senshi" (Soldiers of Sorrow), Meguriai Sora is a retelling of events through the last third of the 1979 series, complete with new animation (at the time). Dropping more of the super robot aesthetic (lol Zakrello, Guntank in Space) and placing more emphasis on action and the evolution of the Newtype, Megurai Sora finishes the main story while opening the door for the surprisingly improved 1985 sequel of the franchise, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Hands down the best conclusion to an trilogy ever. (I would recommend you to watch the TV Series first, before you see the movie, though). Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Finale to the best animated triliogy in history. A MUST SEE for anyone who is a sci-fi fan, or appreciates an excellent storyline.
