Reviews 41% Audience Score 100+ Ratings Merlin Jones (Tommy Kirk), the whiz kid from "The Misadventures of Merlin Jones," returns with more hijinks in this two-part movie. The first finds Merlin using a chimpanzee to perfect a sleep-training system to help the school football team with their exams. In the second part, Merlin builds a pedal-powered flying machine in a competition to win a sizable donation to the school, again aiding the football program. However, the machine doesn't work exactly as planned. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Premiered Nov 18 Buy Now

Audience Member The worst 01 hour: and 30 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member What the **** were they thinking?!!!!!!!!!!!!! This *****y movie has got to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Walter Elias Disney has better live-action and animated movies in theaters, on home media, and streaming on Disney+, LOL. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member The funniest spoof ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review s r Not too good, but had to see it for the Merlin Jones. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review r 9 Slow and formulaic, it does at least have an amusing eventual pay-off. 'The Monkey's Uncle' is a sequel that never needed to be made. It isn't an awful film at all but struggles in a similar way as 'The Misadventures of Merlin Jones' does, just without the promising beginning. The premise is dull, there is minor intrigue in the Darius Green III (Arthur O'Connell) plot but everything that builds up to it is uninteresting and mostly predictable. Tommy Kirk (Merlin) and Annette Funicello (Jennifer) are solid, but the performance of Leon Ames (Holmsby) comes across more sillier than in the 1964 production. Disney continue to be iffy with their live-action sequels. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A much better film that the first - more than likely because that, while it is divided into two "adventures" like the first film, there is an overarching "spine" that bonds the two together (the rivalry between the judge and his fellow board member). Director Robert Stevenson returns, and thankfully keeps the light and funny style of the first film. There is always a thought with sequels to tweak the characters' looks and personalities just because it's a new film. Good directors and producers keep what works and just improve on it. Tommy Kirk is as charming as always, and Annette is plucky, pretty, and a joy to watch. Much like the Beach Party films, this movie is an excellent 1960s slice of life, feel good story.
