What to Know

Critics Consensus

A cult classic as gut-bustingly hilarious as it is blithely ridiculous, Monty Python and the Holy Grail has lost none of its exceedingly silly charm.

Kevin Maher Times (UK) There is ostensible dramatic coherence in the quest for the Grail by Graham Chapman’s long-suffering King of the Britons. Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Colin Bennett The Age (Australia) There are uninspired lapses... and there are rich and hilarious moments of the absurd. A review cannot help turning into a catalogue of the hits rather than the misses. Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Allison Rose FlickDirect The cast's comedic versatility shines as each Monty Python member takes on multiple roles, making the film a hilarious and unforgettable classic. Rated: 4/5 May 5, 2025 Full Review Grant Hermanns Screen Rant Monty Python and the Holy Grail may still only be for the most dedicated to the group's unique sense of humor, but has aged like fine wine. Rated: 9/10 May 4, 2025 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills Did the Pythons go on to make better films, as a group or individually? Maybe. But Holy Grail is peerless as a sustained goof, enlarging the sensibility of their TV skits to an epic canvas it simultaneously ridicules. May 2, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Carston M Absolute cinema. "We are the knights who say NI!" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/26/25 Full Review Bruce W I had never seen this before. Had seen the odd clip and that was it. Huge fan of Life Of Brian which will have me quoting large chunks whenever it gets a mention. In fact I think that movie is a work of genius and it’s so hard to believe that it was banned in some places when released. So I was very pleased to be able to see this for the very first time in the cinema on its 50th anniversary re-release. It was very good. Some great line which I hope once given the opportunity to hear again will allow me to commit to memory. It was a sizeable audience for a midweek showing of such an old movie. It’s fair to say that the audience was largely made up of men of a certain age, but there was a smattering of young people and even women. I enjoyed it and the introduction by the living members of the Monty Python gang was most welcome. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/07/25 Full Review Tyler S I'm giving this a 3.5/5. I literally have no supporting evidence to this rating. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/30/25 Full Review Helena O Seeing this back in a theatre? I'm so there! Smart, so funny, so ahead of its time. Do not miss - esp if you don't know the Pythons. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/25 Full Review Audience Member Always a blast to watch. The laughs don't stop. Quite possibly the best comedy movie ever made. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/02/25 Full Review Caysen A a funny and memorable satire. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/27/25 Full Review Read all reviews
