It’s full of telegraphed “comedy”, ersatz emotions and daytime telly twists. Please, marketing people, stop calling these films “Ealing-style comedies”. Go to Full Review

There surely has to be a stronger case for preserving our pubs than “last refuge for middle-aged depressives”. Ken Loach and Paul Laverty almost did it with 2023’s The Old Oak, but Moorcroft’s mild variant is weak beer, to say the least. Go to Full Review

Xereus W @Xereus 12h Contains mild spoilers This film was shot beautifully however the representation was massively lacking. One of the first characters said there pansexual however it's used as an excuse for the character to make sexualised comments. As a pan person who grew up in a small village it felt very disrespectful. There is also a kid who is suspected to have ADHD and within a week of a teacher raising it they have had an assessment, been diagnosed and put on meds. It gives a heavy impression that if you have ADHD going on meds is the only way to be 'normal'. The idea of a village coming together to help the local pub is great. I've experienced that happen but day to day village life is overly idealistic. I am of the belief that the script writers and producers never thought to consult someone who is pansexual, or someone who has ADHD or even someone who grew up in a rural village. Also all of the cars where spotlessly clean which has never happened in a village - ever. See more David L @Serendipity007 18h Very disappointed in the clarity and the poor diction of the actors which came over badly in the cinema At least it had a positive ending with the ‘bad boy’ having his cumuppance and the good boys on the right side See more Ian S 20h FLAT BEER, FLAT STORY A cosy, formulaic British pub comedy packed with familiar actors and aimed squarely at the Downton Abbey crowd, Mothers Pride is harmless enough but undone by lazy writing, a weak central performance, and a plot so predictable it feels reheated rather than freshly baked.
