This is an underdog tale straining so hard to be endearing that it’s more likely to pull a muscle than tug a heartstring. Go to Full Review

Parochial pub-based piffle — like a pint that’s gone a bit flat. But you can’t doubt its sincerity. Go to Full Review

Its gentle heart, which does not mean TV-movie mawkishness and certainly doesn’t ignore the issues of our time, makes for an enjoyable trip to the pictures. Go to Full Review

Now, nobody is saying that movies like Mother’s Pride don’t have a place in the wider film circle, for the financial success of Fisherman’s Friends says otherwise. But do they really have to be so, well, naff? Go to Full Review

Zachary S @JuicyCritic 2d Genuinely, not bad. You can't expect miracles when you see the cast lineup, but you know it's going to be a solid performance. Don't expect thrills and spills, but a wholesome, heartfelt script, makes for enjoyable viewing with your loved ones. No more, no less. See more Patrick L @PaddyBhoy Jul 7 Fabulous feel good movie. See more Les N @Vegas628 Jul 1 Standard story, but it's worth a look See more SIMON W @RT08528288 Jul 1 I don’t mind a film where you can just switch off and not have to think too deeply, but even this was a bit too twee for me. It felt like it was trying far too hard to be Fisherman’s Friends, but without the same charm. The cast was excellent and did their best with the material, but the story was just too predictable and, ultimately, rather boring. By the end, I was checking the time and couldn’t wait for it to finish. See more Neil M @Neil-MacG Jun 22 Predictable - yes, totally. Believable- not quite. But enjoyable overall. See more P M @RT80753905 Jun 13 The trailer offer the promise of an uplifting british film but sadly what you get is a disappointing Hollywood movie. Mother’s Pride has numerous Hollywood cliches such as, Mick played by Martin Clunes not knowing how to tie his own tie, a Hollywood style courtroom scene and a the Hollywood cliche of friends and family waiting in a hospital. In the UK most people wear a school uniform that includes a school tie and so most people know how to tie a tie. The vast majority of less serious criminal case are heard at the Magistrate’s Court, in front of a panel of Magistrates. Hospitals in the UK generally have strict visiting hours and so people do not get to hangout. If you are going to make a film about a pub then make a film! Sadly Mother’s Pride is a movie.
