Info: An uncomplicated as well as a predictable story dealing with trauma and one-sided love affair. A neither Romantic nor Psychological thriller film is directed by Elred Kumar who made debut as a director in Tamil with Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal. It was made in Tamil.
Story: Ram (Atharva Murali) is a successful IT engineer from chennai living in bangalore with his girlfriend named Charu (Amala Paul) in her apartment. Few months later a new CEO Latha (Amala Paul) from America comes to India and joins in Ram's office at chennai. When Latha meets Ram, she claims that she knows him well, but unfortunately Ram refuses it. Later she finds out that he's suffering from delusional disorder. He lives in a world of delusion. The remaining story reveals the past connection between Ram and Latha. Further the movie reveals the conflicts such as, Reality vs. Delusion, Mother vs. Son, Girl vs. Boy, Friendship vs. Love, Psychology vs. Society, Psychology vs. Self, etc.
Performance: This film is made well, rich in quality and productive in nature. Music, Filming and cinematography are good and worth to watch. Direction, screenplay, performance and characterization is just an average. A debutant director Elred Kumar have done a satisfactory job, whose narration is quite different but after sometime later, especially the second half of the film turns into dragging screenplay and plot order which leads to losing its grip. A word of appreciation goes to Elred Kumar for his first attempt to this industry. Atharva Murali has done a good job, fascinating but he was not properly handled on screen. Amala Paul performance is amateurish on screen also lacking professional skill. Jayaprakash performance is effortless and especially his characterization is not properly framed out in the film. Santhanam is a time pass entertainer but his performance is repetitious and who evokes boredom in film. Anupama kumar as Ram's mother who she has done her part well indeed.
Analysis: Overall this film is filled with disappointments and dissatisfactions. There is neither surprise nor suspense throughout the film. The Basic and fundamental tools for a thriller adventure is completely failed in the screenplay. The essential tools such as planting, suspense and surprise, which are not placed in the right manner and also it is not enough to cope with psychological thriller adventures. There are lots of unwanted shots, scenes and songs which are unfolded with the screenplay in particular Ram's childhood montage are simply dragged for nothing. Stretching the shots and scene could have been avoided in film. Ram's occupation and the portrayal of IT professionals has not been properly scripted. Especially the psychological aspect of the film narration and the psychiatrist who could have been handled better. Screenplay and narrative structure goes without realizing the consequences leading to a poor climax. Finally this film loses its credibility due to poor content and lack of professional skills.
Result: This film is supposed to be an edge of the seat thriller but unfortunately, the result stated the opposite outcome. Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal is an anticipated romantic thriller with emotional conflicts, love, romance, action, vengeance, twist and turns, sentiments, distortion of thoughts / identity, etc. This film doesn't meet expectations.

A decent 1st half, but a very awkward 2nd half. Not too bad. But the title is the biggest spoiler.
