Debra Birnbaum New York Post Aspires to be a highly stylized exploration of the mind of a serial killer, but it's nothing more than a gory, bloodsoaked snuff film, reveling in its own shock value as women are stabbed, strangled, raped and mutilated. Rated: 0/4 Jan 7, 2005 Full Review Ned Martel New York Times The director Nick Palumbo is determined to shock through a fictional German-born serial killer, who makes his mission clear with every thrust of knife blade and pelvis. Rated: 1/5 Jan 6, 2005 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg Village Voice The lowest form of cinematic life, a movie so utterly degenerate it makes you wish that indie filmmakers had to prove a basic standard of decency in order to buy a camera. Audience Member My life would be better if I never watched it... but it's still pretty good 😆 🤣 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review IrateTyrant C Horrible and unenjoyable This was a dumb piece of trash, straight up. This is somehow considered a follow up to Nick Palumbo's Nutbag, which can only be described as "worse than this garbage here," Muder Set Pieces runs through screentime with softcore actresses until the director is bored enough with his own movie to make the MC kill them off. Headless, a similarly poor taste movie of the same ilk, somehow managed to outdo this movie with gore. The unconnected murders in this movie have no plot outline worth mentioning, other than possibly reflecting the writer's obsession with onscreen murder of females. The soundtrack makes it manageable to sit through, but the lack of rewarding writing made me dislike my gullibility. This was one of the worst movies ever, next to Criminally Insane, with just as dumb of a main character. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review kevin c German dude who fancies himself a photographer tours the seedy streets of Vegas looking for women to shoot....and by shoot I mean murder with a straight razor. Plot wise this is not a great movie as there's not much plot to speak of. The lead is believably creepy. Basically this is a movie with plenty of blood and beautiful nude women but that's about the extent of it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Murder Set Pieces is different of viewpoint within paradox reality formed by logical hatred data point within a web of truth. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Chockfull of endless scenes of torture, bloodletting and bench pressing, Murder-Set-Pieces gained a dubious reputation when it was banned in the UK. I'm sure it happened because of it's graphic content, but there's a tiny part of me that wishes it was because the censors saw it, turned to one another and said in unison: 'This is awful!' It has nothing interesting to say, is full of characters who can charitably be described as one-dimensional, has a virtually non-existent plot and mistakes gallon blood for actual substance. Gory movies don't necessary have to be terrible, but sadly most of them are, and this is one of the most unsubstantial that I've ever watched. Poorly written, shamelessly misogynistic and ugly beyond belief, steer well clear of this nihilistic rubbish. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrible film but very sick and bloodthirsty. Banned in the UK. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
