Elli J @Catnap1953 2d What a breath of fresh air! The only reason I won't give it a 5-star rating is that I was hoping the uplifting, humorous and life-affirming feeling would remain until the end. My hopes were dashed, but it is still worth watching. As an over-70s woman, I can appreciate much of what this older lady felt and was trying to do, even though our circumstances are diametrically opposite. The acting, especially by the two main protagonists, is outstanding and so brave really - neither is 'sexy' yet they both exude a passion that is quiet yet real. The subtle undertones of the cultural and political issues in Iran (at that time) are revealed in surprising ways, and the strength of the main female character is heroic and endearing. Although I wish the ending were different, that is due to the romantic tone of this movie that is more expectation than anything else. The acting was natural, the story promised to be heartwarming. I loved seeing an older woman take agency of her life. I loved the budding romance, the warmth of the male character. I loved the feeling of hope that grew inside of me. Then, like what feels like ALL modern movies, it had to turn to crap. It seems most modern directors just want us to feel demoralised and miserable after watching a film, and that's what you'll feel like at the end of this. I regret watching it to the end.
