Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times "My Uncle Rafael" elicits plenty of goofy chuckles even as it regularly threatens to fly off the rails. Rated: 3/5 Sep 20, 2012 Full Review Zachary Wigon Slant Magazine It's all too simplistic, but there's something about watching this inept, callow, bourgeois family getting slapped, scolded, and generally schooled by their new, platitude-spewing Armenian "uncle" that's perversely entertaining. Rated: 2/4 Sep 20, 2012 Full Review Nicolas Rapold New York Times A hokey story with a needless reality-show overlay. Rated: 2/5 Sep 20, 2012 Full Review Shirley Sealy Film Journal International For anyone who has the bad luck to see this vanity production, it will be remembered as one of the worst films of the year--if not the decade.
