Ignacio (Jack Black), or Nacho to his friends, works as a cook in the Mexican monastery where he grew up. The monastery is home to a host of orphans whom Nacho cares for deeply, but there is not much money to feed them properly. Nacho decides to raise money for the children by moonlighting as a Lucha Libre wrestler with his partner Esqueleto (Héctor Jiménez), but since the church forbids Lucha, Nacho must disguise his identity.

Critics Consensus

At times hilarious, but other times offensive, Director Jared Hess is unable to recapture the collective charisma of his Napoleon characters, instead relying on a one-joke concept that runs out of steam. Sure to entertain the adolescents, however.

After finding out this movie was made by the same guy who made Napoleon Dynamite (Jared Hess), I'm convinced he has mastered the art of making enjoyable yet unfunny comedy films.

This movie is criminally underated. Too many critics just didn't get the humor in it's time, or disregarded it because it was a Nickolodian film, or were just hopping on the band wagon of Jared Hess hate after the popularity of Napolian Dynomite. Whatever the case may be, Nacho Libre is an absolute must see, Comedic classic. Endlessly quotable, beautifully shot, and with all of the heart of the first Rocky. "Haven't you ever wanted a lil piece of the Gory?" Watch this Movie!
