Joel E. Siegel Chicago Reader If only Benson had a more dynamic visual style, he could cross over to directing TV spots. But since his dim imagination and dead eye are not up to that exacting task, I suggest he might be most fruitfully employed drawing Cokes at some concession stand. Rated: 0/4 May 9, 2022 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times I didn't laugh very much in this movie. There were a couple of genuinely funny moments, but they didn't build and the movie didn't redeem itself by making me very interested in the characters. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Molly Haskell Video Review Writer-director Benton’s feeling for the endless surprises of domestic intimacy (Kramer vs. Kramer) and the built-in resilience of Southern communal life (Places in the Heart) come together in this lighthearted mock-thriller. Rated: 3/4 Aug 5, 2022 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The uneven, insubstantial slapstick comedy is good for a few chuckles playing the white trash joke card. Rated: B- Jul 25, 2015 Full Review Michael Szymanski International Press Academy Rated: 2/5 Oct 7, 2005 Full Review Scott Weinberg DVDTalk.com An innocuous little wisp of a romantic comedy, spiced up with some chases, escapes, and even a few gunfights. Will M Really enjoyed this movie. Jeff and Kim are excellent and so is Rip Torn. Trust me! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review I M Although the production/direction/cinematography and even the plot and writing are mediocre at best, the 50's atmosphere is convincing and Kim Basinger's performance is terrific.
