Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Driven by a combination of narrative economy and emotional expansiveness, Valrie Massadian's "Nana" is as difficult to pin down as the inner life of the tiny human at its center. Rated: 5/5 Jan 24, 2013 Full Review Joseph Jon Lanthier Slant Magazine Its meta-cinematic "think piece"-ness is redeemed by the slinky symmetries drawn between Massadian's own auteur-ship and the protagonist's narrative role. Rated: 3/4 Jan 23, 2013 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Barely over an hour, the sketch feels lovely, unhurried and a bit insignificant. Rated: 3/5 Jan 23, 2013 Full Review Eric Monder Film Journal International Tedious and slightly sickening, Valrie Massadian's debut feature focuses on a child but is hardly a children's movie. Audience Member A very beautiful film that says an awful lot very quietly, allowing thoughts, feelings, and ideas to wash over you rather than whacking you with some Big Message. The performance by child actor Kelyna Lecomte as 'Nana' is radiant in its simplicity. The director has somehow managed to capture the true feel of childhood on film in a way I've never seen before...
