arvind s Sharan Venugopal's feature film directorial debut is just what the doctor ordered. It is a slice of life movie about relationships and that is one of my favourite genres. It also intersects with a sub-genre: family coming together due to a death in the family (His Three Daughters, Goodbye, Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi). Bhaskar rushes to his hometown of Koyilandy from London with his family upon hearing that his mother is on her deathbed. His two elder brothers, Sethu & Vishwa have opposing feelings for his return, given Bhaskar walked out on the family decades ago. And just as the title suggests, the story focuses on the various dynamics between the brothers and cousins from the next generation. The first thing that Sharan gets right is the casting. Alencier Lopez and Joju George play Vishwa (the eldest) and Sethu (the middle child). And these two do what they are so good at doing. The anger and hatred piled up inside of Vishwa is complimented by the warm and often misunderstood Sethu. Suraj Venjaramoodu plays the NRI brother, who isn't aware of most things as he has been away but he is looking at patching things up. But one of the finest performances comes from Vishwa's daughter played by Garggi Ananthan. Her nuanced act is one of the highlights of this slice of life gem. There is a lot to unravel in this relationship drama of three estranged brothers. But it doesn't delve too deep but makes for a excellent watch nevertheless.
