Although Nationtime hews closely to the conventions of nonfiction filmmaking-a fly-on-the-wall perspective dominates-the documentary showcases Greaves's gifts for capturing the ways that energy shifts and ricochets among groups of people. Go to Full Review

The pleasures of Nationtime are largely observational. Its you-are-there immediacy can be thrilling; you often feel like you're witnessing something important. What you see is what you get. Go to Full Review

dave d 06/09/2021 I had no idea this existed, and it's worth watching for the relevance today and just to hear an in-form Rev. Jesse Jackson inspire the crowd. Thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press and Jane Fonda, this time capsule has been restored and brought back to a new generation. It's not for everyone, but if the passion of people fighting for justice resonates with you then give it a watch. Seeing all the philosophies of how to bring change is really enlightening. This is a fly on the wall documentary, but it's not a great film in any way. Final Score: 6.5/10 See more 02/24/2021 In its own way, like his better known prior work, this documentary has just as much to say about a film's ability to capture a time and a place, the intermixture of historical reality and imagined possibilities, of truth and its rhetorical framing, human passion and collective action.
