geezer R @TheOldRanger 4d For a movie that is 25 years old, it still tugged at the heart. I lived in NW Washington for a while (years ago) and the battle was on then as well. The "business people" basically wanted to destroy nature to do something they "thought" would be great instead of realizing what they were trying to destroy. Fortunately things turned out the same as the movie when some people had enough smarts to realize the real truth. I liked the characters (and since it was based on a true story) it was even more of a heartfelt movie. I'm also part Native (Apache, Comanche, Iroquois) and I have a love of nature that most people don't have. I currently live in central Arkansas with lots of hills, trees, and water, and our community takes pride in ensuring our wildlife has a place to live as well. On any given day, on walks I can take in any direction (hills and trees) and see deer, fox, coyotes, turkeys, etc and I'm blessed to have that privilege ... thanks for showing this movie. See more 11/07/2024 The premise of the movie could have been fascinating. I would have loved to have heard more about the salmon industry and how human interventions interrupt the lives of the fish as well as the people who depend upon them for their livelihood. The actors are first-rate. The dialog is absolutely awful. Both characters are so unrelentingly strident that none of it ever sounds natural or remotely normal. And then they get caught in a storm, get cozy, and are suddenly speaking to one another like an average man and woman. After the storm, the romance between the two begins. I never really believed it--Smith and Matheson aren't that charismatic together. My favorite actor in the film was Tantoo Cardinal. I would have preferred to see her more. The David Andrews character is a grade-A jerk. See more 01/27/2011 This is a nice simple romantic movie, with a nice simple romantic ending. Very Lifetime Network stuff, but sometimes that's fine with me. I enjoyed this. See more 12/19/2010 A terrific chick flick that makes ya feel all mushy and gushy. Well, maybe not that mushy, but it is one of the better romances I have watched in a while. Smith's character, Edith is going through corporate changes in her career and gets sent to BC to interview Matheson's character named John. The story she is to write about is very superficial, but along the way she finds out there is a more important story to discover about the fishing industry. Both Edith and John fall in love along the way. Good solid characters and acting. Made my heart melt.
