Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film Like the fog in August of its title, the horrors of Wessel's film don't come in a rush, but insinuate themselves gradually in what, initially, appears to be a comparatively benign setting before leaving you chilled to the bone. Rated: 4/5 Aug 19, 2017 Full Review Prairie Miller WBAI Radio A bizarre film delving into the elimination of those considered 'defective' - a dress rehearsal for the holocaust to come. But where instead of Nazi stock villains - delusional, both elegant and creepy health care workers perform imagined acts of mercy. Mar 30, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I was profoundly moved by this film. Tension slowly builds, but you are entirely invested in Ernst Lossa and the characters that surround him in the psychiatric hospital. German cinema always has a knack of hitting you straight between the eyes and this is no exception. The horrors of Nazi Germany should never be forgotten and films like this are an important document in fostering that cause. Deeply disturbing and heartbreaking, I recommend it highly....just keep the tissue box close by. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I wish Ernst could escape to America. Sad. The wicked wore beautiful outfit, just like their lies. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I ain't really into the story, or even its directing & narrative, but it starred with that little lad in "Jack".
