Audience Member Awfully strange Japanese film is an uneven mixture of horror, comedy and love story. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I was really expecting this to have been more or so like the Japanese version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (which is a frightening thought) but it turned out to be a well done J-horror comedy. I didn't care so much for the horror aspect of this film as it wasn't too good, such as the chainsaw-wielding-monster didn't have a clear background and seemed to have not fit in with the story too well; but the comedy side and even acting was great! Many times I laughed out loud, and many times I came to appreciate the acting! Looking for a J-horror comedy that isn't too cheesy and is worth the watch, might want to give this one a look! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member (*** 1/2): A fun, strange, and interesting coming-of-age film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This one's a little gem I stumbled upon accidentally. I'm the sort of person who needs to watch a movie if it has a title like "Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge," and the need becomes urgent when I read that there's a ninja girl battling a guy with a chainsaw for an arm involved. But imagine my surprise when the movie wound up having some genuine heart. The kitsch is there in all its cheesy glory, but the movie is also honestly funny and heartwarming. Somehow it turns into a comedic, fantastical exploration of loss and coping with survival. Huh. Tickle me impressed, silly movie. Hayato Ichihara and Yosuke Asari were both fun to watch. A little slow in the middle, but a number of great scenes make it worth it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member The title is very misleading, this film is not a horror flick, but a friggin' romance. The Chainsaw Man's costume design was awesome. To much talky, not enough cutting. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Awesome concept. A young woman's grief about her dead family personifies itself as a giant chainsaw-wielding man that attacks her every night. Throw in a young man mourning the loss of his reckless friend and you got two lost souls that come together to fight sorrow incarnate. Peppered with humor, this teen romance is unique and very watchable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
