Audience Member most documentaries you will see on TV are still direct descendants of this GPO Film Unit documentary from the mid 1930s. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member wh auden to a beat = good rap Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A documentary about a postal train. On first thoughts it may not sound that interesting but technically it's interesting for it's cinematography, amongst other things. Most well known for it's Benjamin Britten score and W H Auden poem. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A mail train that runs nightly from London Euston up to Aberdeen, catching spring loaded bags of letters and parcels without once slowing down. The bags are sorted on-board and dropped off en route, and the royal mail service carries on. It's simple, to be sure, but also rather unforgettable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Not just a brilliant sociohistorical document, this refreshingly uses voice over narration incorporating Auden and editing that matches the pace of the subject train. There are some sequences of reenactment which one could find questionable in a doc such as this. However, this is no celebration of knowing one's place. Rather an attempt at critical historical documentation that will no doubt grow even more fascinating with time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Alleged documentary that in fact has scenes filmed in a studio (the interior carriage doesn't shake) and films telephone conversations from both locations.
