Daniel This was different, but lost power as it went on. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/16/23 Full Review Liam D One of the most generic found footage movies I've ever seen with little to no creativity Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/24/22 Full Review Audience Member I don't know who the target audience is but I'm guessing people who wanted to kill someone after being rejected which is typically something you don't think about doing if you're a mentally sane person. I can't stress enough this was made as a bully revenge movie that forgot to give the viewer a reason to hate the bullies and whoever wrote it thinks killing yourself after being rejected by a girl is a completely rational and logical idea for the plot. I'm honestly shocked Vice hasn't written an article about this movie calling it a revenge movie for incels. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I thoroughly enjoyed this horror movie. I think viewing the story through the flashlight was a witty idea. The whole premise of the haunted forest was nice and vague, which I found enticing. You basically know after the first 20 minutes how the movie will end, the next hour is a fun, eerie ride in the dark. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it scary? Yep. With the lights flashing on and off, you notice shadow figures standing just beyond the characters. The acting was pretty good. The setting was great. And the story, gave me just enough to keep me hooked. I still have questions that are unanswered and I'd like a sequel. My biggest complaint about the movie is the clicking sound every time a flashlight went out...which is frequently. That sound still haunts me... in a not so fun way. All in all a fun, creepy movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent watch, probably won't watch it again, and can only recommend for found footage fans. This lovely little piece of found footage garbage actually has a somewhat interesting premise, reminding me a lot of Slenderman in the way that the demon stalks and haunts the cast. While it was a delightful surprise to see Chloe Bridges, the movie suffers from a lot of problems that audiences have with found footage, including its plausibility. They literally throw something over the camera at one point and I thought, "Really, the budget was that bad you couldn't just have the camera turned away?" The actual action of covering the camera, and thus the light made (some) sense, but that the camera was in that position in the first place felt contrived and covering the camera just made me feel like I was going to be ripped off. Now, it's a game in the dark with shadows everywhere on a budget so the production value is low and it's hard to see most of the time. There is a lot of good in this too, but ultimately I think it needs a rewrite and reboot without found footage. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I will mot tell this is the best movie nor worst. Movie started good, it did well for first 30 mins. When main lead Ben died as first victim of the movie It went of the track. Even continued so for a while until it decided to over stretch it, over use it and annoy its audience! Director must have thought that No one would have guess a Main male lead(Ben) would die in first 30 min as first death on the movie. But it gave a negative impression towards the story moving. At that point it was easier final judgement that everyone would die. So no thrilling when you know everyone is going o die on ending without second guess. Dennis Harvey Variety A mixed-bag variation on found-footage horror, with creepily atmospheric moments as well as too much mood-killing blabber. Mar 30, 2015 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com "Nightlight" is a perfect example of a film with interesting ideas that are totally smothered by poor execution. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 27, 2015 Full Review Andy Webster New York Times "When does this end?" a terrified Robin asks. It's a valid question. Mar 26, 2015 Full Review Molly Henery The Blogging Banshee I felt like it was an interesting idea, there were definitely times where I jumped, and it had a really cute dog in it named Kramer. There were just more parts that I didn't enjoy that outweigh the good. Rated: 4.5/10 Nov 2, 2018 Full Review Matt Donato We Got This Covered Like a flashlight that's running low on juice, you can feel the life oozing out of Nightlight with every faint flicker. Rated: 4/10 Apr 7, 2015 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media The Blair Witch Project has inspired dozens of imitations and knock-offs, but perhaps none so close to the source -- and yet so uninspired -- as NIGHTLIGHT.
