Alec I liked the characters and actor performances. The plot and dialogue were below average and could have benefited from more time, even though there were five or six writers credited. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/10/23 Full Review Irmgard B Nimona was a fun, engaging and thoroughly entertaining character - until she wasn't. I think the point that was missed by most of the critics was that Nimona, when pissed off, became exactly as dangerous as everyone had always feared she would be. Intent on destruction, angry beyond reason, she ultimately does pose a huge threat to their world. The clues were all there from the beginning, cute and boisterous, all she wants to do is fight and kill and Ballister has his work cut out to restrain her. So it's okay to be as bad as the bad guys when circumstances permit? This bothers me a great deal about the movie, which all its moralising does not make up for. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review P S This was a phenomenal roller coaster of a watch. Hilarious and emotional, thought provoking and fun. Truly worth watching Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Matija T I really don't understand how this flawed storylines get so much praise. I understand this is a cartoon, but plot twists around which the whole story revolves are just nonsense. Without spoiling anything, the scroll doesn't make sense, director's motivation doesn't make sense, how can Ballister question Nimona after seeing and hearing what the director said and did in the scene with Ambrosius? Just a big mess. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review SlickerySlope C Very memorable movie with a deep message that people from all ages can understand. The story is unique and relatable. You won't feel like you wasted your time with this movie as every second is enjoyable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Christy Lemire Breakfast All Day I think it's the third act's a little weak, but I enjoyed it very much and has got a lot to say. Rated: 7.5/10 Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Alonso Duralde Breakfast All Day Its message is powerful but subtle, and I like the animation style a lot. Rated: 9/10 Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Heather Hogan Autostraddle Just as Stevenson somehow magicked Netflix into green-lighting She-Ra and the Princesses of Power's unmatched all-ages queer storytelling, he bamboozled them with Nimona too. This baby is gay. Jul 5, 2023 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia Its strength lies in the cel shading animation that renders character design and medieval-futuristic settings, but its fantasy is weakened by a simplistic plot that repeatedly falls into the zone of the most generic clichés. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/10 Feb 27, 2024 Full Review John Paul King Washington Blade In its unequivocal and undiluted embrace of the queer experience of “otherness” which lies (barely) beneath its every nuance, it becomes the inclusive, gay-and-trans-affirming parable it was always intended to be. Feb 20, 2024 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film We never get a real sense of who Nimona is as an individual, beyond the impressions she gives to other people, so that the film comes to rely on the old trope of eliciting sympathy for a monster rather than de-monstering her.
