They do a bit of establishing scenes at the beginning without putting too much effort into any of the people except the main character and then Shubei, and then just almost exclusively focus on them and their goals. They managed to build a deep and interesting world and follow some deep concepts with nominally little effort and still retain some decent action. I am honestly wanting more, even if the "story in a story" is more interesting looking than the world where it's being told. Good movie, will definitely watch again eventually.
