When the coastal Florida town of Atlantic Beach is threatened by an impending hurricane, locals prepare for a mandatory evacuation. But as the last tourists depart and residents board-up their homes, a few wanderers feel strangely compelled to remain. Among them are two-long time friends who embrace willful ignorance in pursuit of their dream gig, a local teenager who bikes alone through the darkening night, and an obsessive storm chaser who recognizes this might be the opportunity of his career. As if haunted by the soon-to-be ghost of their hometown, they venture into the night and face the threats that await them with fascination and dread. Ominous and dream-like in equal measure, the debut from Alexandra Simpson--and the latest feature from the thriving collective Omnes Films (CHRISTMAS EVE IN MILLER'S POINT, EEPHUS)--is a hypnotic take on the disaster movie.

Tomris Laffly RogerEbert.com Elegiac in tone, melancholic in style, and documentarian in spirit, Simpson thoughtfully captures the micro preoccupations of the film’s characters. Rated: 3/4 Jul 18, 2025 Full Review Lovia Gyarkye The Hollywood Reporter No Sleep Till does a particularly fine job of portraying an eerie kind of climate adaptation, one in which people acquiesce to their fate in the face of the elements. Jul 17, 2025 Full Review Natalia Winkelman New York Times No Sleep Till is an understated — and somewhat sleepy — film. Jul 17, 2025 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) As her camera lingers on the empty pools, souvenir shops, and streets of the town, Simpson’s evocative use of sound and framing create a fully-realized world on a very limited budget. Jul 18, 2025 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Although the fragmented narrative approach inhibits a deeper emotional connection, this sharply crafted debut effectively captures universal anxieties within its specific blue-collar setting. Jul 18, 2025 Full Review Philip Bagnall Loud and Clear Reviews No Sleep Till is a reminder to plot your way out of your own storms, but to be sure you know the way before you go.
