Bosley Crowther New York Times A good job of pictorial pamphleteering on the topic of parent-child relations is done by Nobody Waved Good-bye, but it comes to no forceful conclusion, either emotional or intellectual. Jan 22, 2019 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Peter Kastner and Julie Biggs have high and low points in the leads, but they're naturally charming enough to get away with momentary lapses in their performance. Mar 26, 2009 Full Review Geoff Pevere Toronto Star Don Owen's debut feature is a landmark as the first English-language [National Film Board of Canada] movie to bring the technology and style of the direct-cinema documentary movement to feature filmmaking. Sep 9, 2005 Full Review Elizabeth Hardwick Vogue Nobody Waved Goodbye is beautifully done in a plain way. It does not strive for the excitement of art so much as for the satisfactions of accuracy. Jun 20, 2023 Full Review Judith Crist New York Herald Tribune Here is a young man caught in the momentum of his rebellion, adults trapped in the dilemma of their helplessness -- and none is theatrical, each is an individual that we know, a familiar face in the crowd. Aug 15, 2022 Full Review Paul-Louis Martin Cahiers du Cinéma The honesty of the film, its beauty, is precisely that of placing itself out- side adolescence. May 25, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This is a really good movie except that the main character (Peter) is such a douche-bag! As a friend in my class put it (and put it best) "You kept thinking, "Come on, don't do that, don't be a dick! Oh, no, he did it, he's a dick. But maybe next time... oh no, he did it again... he's a dick!" So true! As opposed to the first Canadian documentary, I really did appreciate this for a number of reasons. First the fact it was a guerilla film. Secondly, the naturalness of it. Thirdly, the acting was really good. Everyone played so well! But the kid is a giant douche!
