      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Nobody's Fool has a pair of strong leads and a smattering of scenes that highlight Tiffany Haddish's talents -- all of which only make the uninspired end results more frustrating.

Sherry F Obv. the silver spoon critics don't like this movie. WHICH MEANS IT'S HILARIOUS! I'm not a fan of romantic comedies, but Tyler Perry killed it! The female characters are written and performed amazing. I full on cackle and loud laugh. Maybe it's because I've known people like this, but I couldn't be more moved by the characters. Tanya, and Kalli are my hands down favorites. Frank is well rounded as the love interest without taking over the focus from Danica. If you have friends from the school of hard knocks, this movie is for you. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review John B really didn't enjoy this one as it was nasty and not funny either Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/22/22 Full Review Elonwy S You can see that the reviews are pretty polarized between the extremes of 1 and 5 stars. Yes, the rom-com portion is a bit contrived and predictable. Yes, the comedy was a bit crass and maybe a little disgusting, but it mostly worked because Tiffany Haddish has the most inimitably funny delivery! I'm pretty uptight, but I actually laughed at some of her scenes. I like Tika Sumpter but her Danica character was soooooooooo irritating. She was so stupidly and stubbornly obsessed with following her list of romantic ideals. It's not realistic that anyone would resist a cute, kind (and good looking!) guy like Frank. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/22 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie! I think Tiffany Haddish is so funny! I love Omari Hardwick in this too! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Lighthearted, and funny! I loved it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Disappointing. I love Tiffany Haddish and I love the concept of the movie about a woman being catfished and her crazy sister trying to help her find out who it really is. I don't even mind the little love story with the barista. But this movie was just bad. It was so all over the place. I felt like I was watching every episode of Friends or HIMYM at the same time. That whole "will they, won't they" thing got annoying very quickly. SPOILERS ARE FOLLOWING SO STOP READING NOW IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED IT. I would have preferred if they spent more time on the whole researching who the guy was, and had Nev and Max actually go with the characters to confront the catfish. I also wish they would have just kept the story line a little more simple, let it just be a catfish and not have that stupid "plot twist" where she was taking to the real guy the whole time. It did not make sense, and it elongated the movie unnecessarily. Like they should have just had her find out he was a catfish, then had her get with coffee shop dude and that be it. Not this whole back and forth thing where he is a catfish and then she gets with coffee dude and then all of a sudden homeboy isn't a catfish anymore! So she gets with the original guy only to realize original guy sucked and ended up back with the barista annoying!!!! If people wanna watch this just stop after the part where she meets the catfish guy and leave it at that. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Ben Sachs Chicago Reader The movie is bad in all the ways Perry's movies are usually bad - it's haphazardly paced, riddled with plot holes, and thuddingly overstated in its moralizing - but that doesn't matter whenever Haddish is onscreen. Feb 24, 2020 Full Review Steve Davis Austin Chronicle You feel like you're the victim of a cruel bait-and-switch, lured into thinking Nobody's Fool would be a crappy but nevertheless entertaining Tiffany Haddish movie, only to have it turn out to be a crappy but nevertheless crappy Tyler Perry movie. Rated: 1.5/5 Nov 8, 2018 Full Review Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture It's something like five movies in one. Or maybe it's five movies in two. Or six movies in three. It's a mess, whatever it is, but it's not without its charms. Nov 5, 2018 Full Review Cory Woodroof The Playlist Perry needs to let Nobodys Fool be his last journey into crass comedy. Rated: C Feb 10, 2022 Full Review Paul McGuire Grimes KSTP-TV (St. Paul, MN) It's quite funny if you're a Tiffany Haddish fan.
