Audience Member Presenting a host of cultural issues and stereotypes without coming to terms with many of them, Anglo helmer-scribe Dunning has made a film that at once displays an easy, casual familiarity with the more secluded back alleys of the neighborhood and a fairly crude approach to storytelling and character depth. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty bad, even for an independent movie. Supposedly a up-to-date movie about Chinatown (hence the NOW in the title), and a young Chinese girl 'trapped' in Chinatown. Dunning (director) thought I'd be a great idea to star as a quasi "white knight" in this movie, that's not really a problem, since Dunning's acting is abhorrently bad. Not only is his dialouge unconvincing, but his movement and body language is embarrassing. A few painfully obvious symbolisms and a boring ending. Dunning, stick to making independent movies, because you'll never make it big time :( Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Dunning directs this film brilliantly! We are able to probe the life of this immigrant Chinese woman not through words, but through an untold story of suffering and hope, just a touch romanticized in spots, but a great film.
