Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader Streisand produced, developed the script, and composed most of the music for this showpiece, and her efforts, as usual, pay off, above all in her angry and lively performance. Jan 11, 2008 Full Review Time Out Streisand's a star, which means your complicity is on call at all times. In the shade, Dreyfuss is terrific, banking down his natural cockiness. Jan 26, 2006 Full Review Janet Maslin New York Times The film is almost entirely adrift. Rated: 2/5 May 20, 2003 Full Review Vicki Gabriner Gay Community News (Boston) It is a very good movie and important because it takes on the issue of incest, framing it cinematically with accuracy and sensitivity. Aug 23, 2022 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Nuts is not a grand film by any means, but it's practically impossible to be bored with it. [Full review in Spanish] Jul 6, 2022 Full Review Candice Russell South Florida Sun-Sentinel Nuts is a treat on so many levels that Streisand, who also produced the film, should be especially proud. When Academy Award nominations are announced in February, her excellent performance is bound to be recognized. Rated: 3/4 Aug 19, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

David H Unique and captivating, brilliant cast Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Jeff M This really isn't a very good movie, but I'm going to give it a very lukewarm pass because a film featuring this caliber of a cast deserves to be seen at least once. And Barbra is putting her whole heart and soul into this role, even though she feels miscast. It is obvious from the opening moments that this originated as a stage play, especially when Streisand begins one of her numerous long-winded monologues that feel like they were written for college students auditioning for the drama club. The attempts to "open it up" by showing us flashbacks don't really work - and the flashbacks featuring a nearly naked Leslie Nielsen are movie moments I never really needed in my life. It all feels a little too pat and too trite and too predictable - the alleged surprise plot twists are obvious, and the dramatic highpoints are shrill and over-acted. When all is said and done, though, I can't say I didn't appreciate everyone trying as hard as they obviously are here. And I was never bored. If you're not a Streisand fan, don't bother - all the other esteemed actors here are just orbiting in her universe. I would loved to have seen what happened if Babs decided to direct instead and hired a different actress for the lead. Word is that Debra Winger was originally cast - that could have been exciting! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Eve C I rented this movie on Amazon Prime semi-blindly. I looked at the Rotten Tomato score, but that was it! Since it got a low review score, I was debating whether or not I should watch it, AND I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID!! Since it got the score that it did, I had low expectations for this movie, but it was so good. I totally recommend this movie to everyone! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/14/22 Full Review Audience Member When I was a kid I saw this movie, impressive acting of Barbra S. And since there I am her fan but this is a really actiing of her. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Barbra Streisand obviously was chasing some Oscar Gold with this one, but it turns out to be a contrived, predictable, and downright embarrassing at times legal drama that fails to convince us why it needs to exist in the first place. My biggest issue is simply...why? Why does the state want to declare Barbra's character insane so much. She shows no signs of actually being crazy. There is no reason a person who has actually killed someone in self defense should be declared insane. Her character clearly knows right from wrong. I can answer this question. The reason is only because the script says so. The only thing insane is the screenplay. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review steve d I normally love this kind of thing, but it didn't work for me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
