Audience Member I loved this Brazilian Sherlock Holmes movie! Everyone speaks brazilian (and french) with subtitles except for Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson who speak in english which was a great idea and more authentic than the tendency in movies to make everyone speak the same language. There are some awesome comedic moments which seem to happen naturally and not forced for our amusement even as absurd as they may sound - Dr. Watson being possessed by a spirit demon and then talking like a native woman until the spirit leaves his body resulting in him falling flat on his face and getting up not knowing what had gone on, Holmes being given cannabis and having hallucinations, then making love for the first time in his life only to stop halfway with a craving to eat sweets, Watson inventing the first cocktail, and the bit with the girls liver in the mortuary when her father walks in during the autopsy... Its a very different Holmes movie and yet doesn't seem unbelievable. I also liked how it didn't have a succesful close to the case with the brazilian murderer going on to be the most notorious murderer in England... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Crazy story with Sherlock Holmes. Some scenes were kind of funny. I did not read the book, but I still think it could be better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member It has style, but Miguel Faria really went nowhere. Joaquim de Almeida ultimately brings the goods, but ironically enough, I'd choose Johnny Depp anyday. A decent, yet seemingly uninterested Brazilian effort. 60/100 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
