Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader A luminous, highly erotic treatise on art, love, and death. Sep 28, 2007 Full Review Bill Stamets Chicago Sun-Times Unfortunately, the couple's intimacy is not especially interesting. Rated: 2/4 Sep 28, 2007 Full Review V.A. Musetto New York Post You're either going to love this film and run out to see everything Majewski has directed, or you're going to be bored silly. Rated: 3.5/4 Jun 23, 2006 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide Chris is the putative author of the film's images, but they're overlaid with Claudine's relentlessly overwhelming voice-over, which alternates between a crisp, knowing lecture about Bosch and more personal musings. Audience Member I really didn't like this film until the last 10 minutes. It follows two PhD students (an engineer and an art historian) who fall in love and film every last Goddamn thing they do while living in Venice. She is studying Hieronymus Bosch ... and much of what she has to say about him is interesting ... but the other 85% of the footage of them dicking around Venice really isn't. It makes them seem selfish and incredibly full of themselves, and when these two really are the entire film, that's not a good thing. Then tragedy strikes, and the films intensely real and vivid portrayal of grief won me right over. A bit too late to make the film completely worth while, but it left me feeling glad I'd watched it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member "Chimology" but hogwash, nevertheless :p I don't agree with the concepts/ideas in the paintings but this is some effort putting it altogether! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member too cloverfield and depressing for my liking, a little bit too much Permanent Head Damage here... Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Lech Majewski wrote a story - Meatphysics - and then as it was based where he lives in Venice and was about love and Bosch's painting of Earthly delights being recreated and filmed; he made it a film. Filmed on hand held Sony camera, sometimes deliberatly blurred; it concerns Claudine an art historian who falls in love with Chris a boat design enthusiast. She's dying he's filming; the actors were often left with the camera to film themselves alone. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A vivid painting brought to life by two fearless performances. A movie filled with symmetries and assymetries, the real world and reflections and finally living and dying, it lingers in the memory long after you leave the world created by Lech Majewski. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I usually don't do this, but I gave up on this movie 30 minutes into it. It was boring and un-captivating, if that's a word. I couldn't care for the plot or the characters. Unfortunately, that's the kind of movie that give a bad name to European cinema. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
