The film refuses to get bogged down in the bleakness of Oleg's predicament, with Kursietis's irrepressibly lively handheld camera emphasising his protagonist's sense of perpetual forward motion.

Its barrelling, unsteady construction only matches the panicked chaos of its subject's own day-to-day existence: Like many a disregarded citizen of nowhere, Oleg doesn't have time to breathe and compose himself before finding his next temporary life.

Although Oleg presents a familiar scenario and avoids melodramatic tactics, it's difficult to imagine Kursietis standing out amongst other contemporary Baltic titles, but it's an often understated offering featuring a fine lead performance.
