      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

While the script may not always be worthy of her gifts, Catherine Deneuve's performance ultimately offers more than enough reason to watch On My Way.

Claude Peck Minneapolis Star Tribune [Deneuve] conveys in every scene a convincing and touching openness to life as experienced in the moment. Rated: 3/4 Jun 5, 2014 Full Review Josh Kupecki Austin Chronicle Unfortunately, Deneuve's performance is not enough to elevate On My Way from the dredges of narrative tedium. Rated: 2/5 May 1, 2014 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Deneuve, fine as always, subtly emphasizes the character's self-destructive side, providing a little medicine to help the sugar go down. Apr 24, 2014 Full Review Bernard Boo Way Too Indie Deneuve is such a treasure that it's hard to feel regretful watching her work, even when it's as unremarkable as the first half of On My Way. Rated: 6.5/10 Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion [A] loosely structured, sporadically engaging film, which serves primarily as a star vehicle for French screen icon Catherine Deneuve. Rated: B Jun 3, 2014 Full Review Aaron Yap Flicks (AU, NZ, UK) Never less than watchable, but bar Deneuve's presence, the film rarely coalesces dramatically. dave s Bettie (Catherine Deneuve) is a woman approaching the tail end of middle-age. Among a series of setbacks in life (her lover has left her for another woman, her mother is a burden, her restaurant is failing), she leaves everything behind and takes to the road in an attempt to find some meaning in her life. Despite an ending that becomes a bit predictable as the movie progresses, the film is a touching exploration of the importance of accepting and appreciating whatever it is that life offers. Deneuve, as would be expected, is wonderful in the lead role. As a bonus, the French countryside is lovely and the secondary characters nicely complement the work of Deneuve. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member not so much also very lite on the 'comedy' Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Deneuve is magnificent. Story could have been tighter, but it's a leisurely picaresque tale through the French countryside. It's great to see good roles for grandparents! Someone needed to strangle that daughter though! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member An enjoyable French family drama with a powerful performance by Catherine Deneuve Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member couldn't quite et attached to her character or her plight, but a cute story nonetheless. everyone loves a road trip.
