      Critics Consensus

Dull and unfunny, One For the Money wastes Katherine Heigl's talents on a stunningly generic comic thriller.

Nelson B I didn't hate the movie but that might have been due to my having read all the books it was (very) loosely based on. Fans of Stephanie Plum were probably ready for anything. Evidently there weren't enough of us. I'm not sorry I bought the DVD but I'm sure not many people would agree. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review Dinos K I am so tired of Katherine Heigl's rom-coms. Her career has been over for years now but she still makes movies that no one likes Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Truman M I have seen some bad movies in my life, but that may be the worst. I think the director got the assignment confused, it's not a spoof right? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Christine D Fun flick! Love Katherine Heigle as Stephanie Plum. Wish there were more from the Janet Evanovich series. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review R H Katherine Heigl does a great job. The writing coils have been a bit better, but it's a fun movie. Debbie Reynolds is perfect. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review Flower G The absolute most awful terrible awful casting I have ever seen in a movie did they even read the book the film was based on? Did they read the descriptions of the characters? Horrible terrible film I couldn't watch more than five minutes after seeing every single character miscast. London Evening Standard The film miscasts Heigl and doesn't do much good for Debbie Reynolds as Grandma, either. Rated: 1/5 Feb 23, 2012 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle If the filmmakers can't be bothered to believe in the real-world implications of its premise, then why ever should we? Rated: 2/5 Feb 3, 2012 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com While he doesn't come close to saving the film, John Leguizamo at least redeems himself in an otherwise sparkless film.
