New Jersey native Stephanie Plum (Katherine Heigl) has plenty of attitude, even if she is broke after six months of unemployment. Desperate for money, Stephanie convinces her cousin to give her a job as a recovery agent with his bail-bond company. What she lacks in experience she makes up for in moxie, and she intends to bring in her cousin's biggest bail-jumper: Joe Morelli (Jason O'Mara), a former vice cop and murder suspect who broke Stephanie's heart when she was in high school.

Echoing many others here, hard to understand some not liking this. Every one of the actors is good, story is fresh enough for sure, and Heidi's great fit for the role. If you've always liked her, you'll like her more.

I honestly don't get all the hate. This movie was hilarious, had a good story, and all-star actors and actresses... I never listen to reviews for the sheer fact that yall just straight up troll. If you want a good movie for the whole family, here it is. Yes the books are better, but thats the nature with every movie that started from a book. Cope harder.

Once again Hollywood takes a good book and turns it into a terrible movie. Additionally, whenever a no-talent actress bankrolls (Exec Producer) a film just so she can star in it it has flop potential. Heili was so full of herself she didn't even make an attempt to research Steph or attempt to play her. The characters (save Lula, played by Sheri Shepherd) are horrible. Debbie Reynold made a feeble attempt at Grandma Mazur and failed. Casting didn't even try!! Jason O'Mara & Daniel Sunjata are about a 1-Minus on the hot meter as Morelli and Ranger, and again, they didn't even bother to read the book to get in character. This was all Hollywood and no Jersey. Heigl and O'Mara didn't even attempt Jersey and Sunjata was so un-Ranger it was pitiful and painful to watch. With the books you always looked forward to seeing what Janet Evanovich would come up with next...with this movie you just counted the minutes until it was over. This could have been a mini-series with the right cast, but no-talent, impressed with themselves actors made it an epic fail.
