a paradoxical play on realism, as the closer this intense action star comes to the rôles he typically plays, the more absurdly postmodern the exercise becomes, with an array of cartoonish villains and impossible fights... Go to Full Review

In meta action film One Percent Warrior, choreographed by the legendary Kensuke Sonomura, Tak Sakaguchi is an action star making a movie that lets him test skills for real. Go to Full Review

A thrilling martial arts film with a distinct style to the choreography. It also provides a fun twist to the "Die Hard on a..." template. Go to Full Review

One-Percent Warrior is an entertaining film and has some fantastic fight sequences. The story is uneven and so are the cinematography and editing. The film may have a better appeal to fans of Tak Sakaguchi... Go to Full Review

Tim D Jan 10 As cool and ridiculous as the story was I'm surprised I didn't hear not a single word talking about this movie. I found this flick randomly in search for a good martial arts film to enjoy, but I didn't expect such connective portrayal of a washed up film star who strives for realism. It's hard to say what I really liked about this movie without spoiling it but aside from the action and the semi alternative fighting style that Tak Sakaguchi's character uses, I really loved the psychology twist that literally came out of nowhere. I love when movies do the unexpected, big or small, because every movie is starting to feel the same. It's like once you've seen one movie you've seen them and the one little twist that story took made it feel special to me. Now whenever I see or think of Tak Sakaguchi, One-Percent Warrior will be the first film that comes to mind. The trouble is, it takes too long to get going because it spends far too much time hyping up the protagonist in such a way which removes any excitement & adds repetitiveness during some of the action sequences. Now there are some good moments regarding the action unlike couple of sequences felt like it's trying too hard to be eye catching & the repetitive score kind of get overbearing which isn't helped by an ending just feels like it was thrown in from out of nowhere because they wanted to aim high for something meaningful. Ultimately, it's fine, but could've been so much better if it focused more on the premise. See more Madadh S 03/13/2024 The professional reviews are absurd. This movie appears to have been shot on a budget of about $3.50 USD and the choreography is outright trash. I can't stress that enough, the fight scenes are pure, unadulterated stupidity, to the point of being goofy. The actual "action sequences" themselves are very poorly shot and even more poorly acted; don't even get me started on the voice acting for the American dub. I sincerely regret wasting $5 USD on unentertaining garbage like this, especially during a soft recession. Don't bother, watch any of Tak's other movies instead. See more Read all reviews
