Doleac and Williams screenplay skillfully melds inventiveness and wit with poignant examinations of marriage, unrealized aspirations, and family relationships. Picture a blend of Noah Baumbach and Richard Linklater's artistic approaches, combined with the vibrancy of MTV music videos - the result is a thoroughly engaging mix. As for its genre, it defies easy categorization, encompassing a bit of everything. The best approach is to simply plunge in and fully immerse yourself in the experience.

His character, a once-admired icon, now faces diminishing fortunes in the entertainment world, adding a profound element to the story. A highlight of the film is its ingenious incorporation of hallucinatory scenes, where the protagonist envisions herself as the lead singer of an 80's New Wave band. These sequences are visually impressive and effectively symbolize her inner conflicts and dreams.
