It is a successful neo noir, controversial due to its subject matter for a Polish fiction, which recounts a police investigation into a period during which thousands of homosexuals and heterosexuals related to them were persecuted, mistreated, booked and sometimes compulsively detained. This is another of those films that strongly recreates that oppressive period climate, but also everyday "behind the iron curtain". See more neathen a 01/31/2022 This film was very powerful and nuanced, I watched it twice to fully realize it's beauty and craftsmanship. There is a conversation in the movie between the main character ‘Robert' (played by the superbly talented actor Tomasz Ziętek) and his mother where he apologizes for "lying to everyone" and she replies that he "didn't lie to himself". This scene is a great summary of the conflict in the film and metaphorically to the audience. — Humans have a basic responsibility to never lie to themselves, and if you achieve that reality, you've won. I really appreciate the attention to detail and noir tone of the film. EXCELLENT work. I highly recommend this for everyone, as it is important to educate our hearts and minds about all LGBT+ history — so we can learn and grow as a global community from past mistakes. BRAVO.
