Neely Swanson Beverly Hills Courier I really liked this movie and not just because I knew the story and the protagonists; I liked it because it was fun, well-made, and hit the target. Dec 23, 2023 Full Review Prairie Miller WBAI Radio When Bette Davis said old age is not for sissies, she likely had in mind the acting world as well. And this film is a marvelous tribute to that, a defiant romance on and off screen between these long term lovers with a passion for acting and each other. Dec 15, 2023 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A sweet, funny and charming romantic comedy. Mariette Hartley and Jerry Sroka are magic together. Dec 5, 2023 Full Review Sabina Dana Plasse Film Threat Meshing their sense of humor and style, Mariette is blunt but classy, and Jerry, a master of voices, timing, and genuineness, carries Our (Almost Completely True) Love Story through until its end. Deborah W I’m 75, husband is 90 and we absolutely loved this movie. It was fun to see them play themselves, very authentic and charming. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/08/24 Full Review Lorrie T After determining that Mariette Hartley & Jerry Sroka wrote it, I give it a thumbs down. Why? I was enjoying the realism, the humor, and blossoming relationship. Why did they feel it necessary to include that scene at the play where her daughter is performing? So, let's get this right: the characters are father and son. Unbeknownst to the father, the son had a sex change operation, and is now having sex with his father. In what universe is that considered funny? I'm so sick of Hollywood desensitizing viewers to things that are abhorrent. I assumed that the director or producer must have pressured them into including this scene. Nope. I don't care if anyone thinks "I've got no sense of humor." That wasn't necessary. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/24 Full Review Mary L Great movie. The story was wonderful and the acting was superb. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review Rob M This is a warm, thought-provoking love story about finding love later in life. The film features a great cast of well-known actors from the Seventies and Eighties and the script knowingly connects the issue of no-longer-in-demand older actors trying to find work with older people trying to find relevance, along with health issues (it hints at Mariette's failing memory and her gait hints at other physical aging issues). So good to see Tess Harper, Morgan Fairchild, and others playing themselves in real life. This is a sweet indie film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/29/24 Full Review Ace R This is a good movie. I like it because it uses the actors, and actresses, acting as themselves. I recommend that you see this film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/14/24 Full Review Carol-Lani R My husband (85) and I (73) were all set to agree on and enjoy a romance. We did agree that this was not watchable. Nice people, I’m sure, and we’re delighted they love/married each other, but this was really an embarrassment on kind of every level. Since they went by their own names it feels like disapproval of them as people to critique their documentary. But in order to say how it came across here’s the thing. She was an asset in those iconic roles she was known for but in this it was hard to see why he would feel so drawn to her. He, on the other hand, was unknown to us, but felt more relatable…just kind and loving. Anyway, not recommended for entertainment. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/27/24 Full Review Read all reviews
