steven d There was a lot to like in this low budget scottish, fantasy horror. Would love to see more set in this world filled with dark magic and monsters hiding on a council estate in scotland. Reminiscent of worlds created by Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman.. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member An enjoyable "magical" movie where the magic is believable, subdued and embedded with ancient runes and symbology. The mythology behind the magic is not fully explained. Instead, it is slowly revealed to the audience as the mythos is explained to other characters within the movie. There are times where it seems that some of the tangent threads were not well incorporated into the rest of the film, and were distracting when more delving into the magical mythology was warranted. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Average horror but worth a watch it is well acted for a very average script/storyline the cast do well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member 3.25* It was good. Wouldn't recommend it but I don't regret watching it. It's more of a supernatural suspense movie than anything else. Good acting. And it's got Lord Commander Mormont in it too. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Its ambitious if uneven hybrid of grim social realism and flat-out monster movie theatrics conjures up a commendably brooding atmosphere. It's just a shame the story feels so muddled. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member this movie speaks to me in accents so thick you'll need subtitles. Nigel Floyd Time Out Rated: 4/5 Nov 16, 2011 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Mail (UK) Thoroughly grim but original and commendable indie-Scot-horror about deadlocked necromancers, played by Kate Dickie and James Nesbitt. Rated: 3/5 Dec 9, 2010 Full Review Catherine Shoard Guardian If Andrea Arnold met Eli Roth you might get something like this lyrically shot, energetically acted, medium grisly and totally bonkers Scottish social realism supernatural horror film.
