Rarys Rocha B Hard to make a boring acting when you're playing such a figure as Robert the Bruce, such a breathtaking story and portrayed with increadible acuracy, yet Pine delivers nothing of such character. The other actors aren't as bad but only because we can't expext as much from the characters they are portraying as we expect from Pine's. Disapointing. Though criticized here for being "muddy and bloody to a fault" (as also suggested in the movie's trailers), the film is more committed to period fidelity than gratuitous spectacle. That said, the film does apparently take several liberties with historical fact, and despite that, Chris Pine's Robert the Bruce remains a somewhat underwhelming central figure.
