      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Outlaws and Angels doesn't do enough to stand out on the crowded canvas of nouveau Westerns -- doubly disappointing considering there's an Eastwood in the cast.

Roy G Certainly not your traditional classic western film! I enjoyed it and did not find it too slow moving. I totally get other reviewers issues with slow scenes and finding the content objectable - but if you are the type of person who appreciates this genre of dark, off-beat cinema, you will enjoy the slow cinematogrphy and other graphic imagery. You are either going to hate it, or like it and understand why others think it is crap. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/21/23 Full Review Jean C Half a star because I couldn't leave less. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review james w The hell with the critics. This was a great movie !!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review H C The slow-as molasses pace and the director's awkward attempts at artiness are annoying as hell and will make you want to walk out of the movie but Francesca Eastwood's presence got me through to the end. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I could hardly understand one word the actors said. Nothing but mumbling and croaking that is supposed to be dialogue. Give it a miss. Load of crap. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Sharp looking, bloody western that surprises in more ways than one. Roxana Hadadi Punch Drunk Critics "The innocence or the darkness, which are we?" Josiah asks; Outlaws and Angels goes too heavy on the latter, to its own detriment. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 9, 2017 Full Review Steve Greene indieWire This particular revenge tale isn't an example of incompetent filmmaking, just sadly misfocused storytelling. Life in 1887 wasn't easy, but at some point, there has to be something more to say. Rated: C- Dec 31, 2016 Full Review Nick Allen RogerEbert.com In a sea of grimy indie Westerns, especially ones that started with the same genre canvas, "Outlaws & Angels" is a thoroughly ugly example of when "Tarantino-esque" is the most generous compliment. Rated: 1/4 Jul 15, 2016 Full Review John Noonan FILMINK (Australia) ...a vicious portrayal of The Wild West... Rated: 14/20 Oct 24, 2016 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue ... has some evocative touches considering its shoestring budget, but little compelling drama along the way. Jul 30, 2016 Full Review Nathanael Hood The Young Folks Unfortunately Mollner isn't able to handle intimate, quiet scenes as well as he does action set pieces or special effects shots.
