It's easy to dismiss Pad Man for the same reasons as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Both are glorified PSAs with a superstar making a profit out of playing the savior of womanhood...

What PadMan is aiming for is admirable and a genuine concern, but it isn't always above the missteps common to most films of the meaningful genre...PadMan has its premise in place. Now if only it had some wings.

Padman is a film which takes the risk of presenting a taboo subject and does it effortlessly. You connect with the lead character throughout the film. Akshay delivers a power packed performance. Now, I think that the one-sided love track between Sonam Kapoor and Akshay could have been avoided but besides that a truly great film.

What a great movie! It's a Bollywood movie, complete with song & synchronized dancing, that celebrates the true story of the inventor of a cheap sanitary napkin in India. I really enjoyed it and appreciated it even more when I realized that it's an (essentially) true story. The real "Pad Man," when interviewed, relayed some how the core events of the story actually happened to him. What a movie!

Okay America, why did India beat us to the movie about menstruation? Why do they get the male lead who is sensitive to womens periods while everyone tries to shush him like, "We don't talk about this blood, Lakshmikant!". "Pad Man" is worth watching on concept alone.
