Audience Member A young Afghan woman working in Switzerland tries to wire money to her father, who she has just learned is sick. Sending money isn't allowed without an id, and she's a refugee, not a citizen. What else is she going to do? She asks a local for help, but the local wants a cut of half of the money. Thus begins a difficult night.<p> <p>Parvaneh is quite long for a short film (24 minutes). My first thought was that this was a depressing topic and I wasn't enthusiastic about watching it. However, a few minutes in I was hooked. It's a terrible and also a lovely story. I really recommend giving it a few moments of patience, because those moments will repay you.
