Curious to know more about the humans who come to visit him at the zoo, a pelican undergoes a fantastic transformation into an awkward young man (Kari Ketonen). His gift for imitation helps him learn how to speak, and he soon finds himself an apartment and a job. He meets two young children, Emil (Roni Haarakangas) and Elsa (Inka Nuorgam), who are the only people who can see through his disguise. When adults begin to notice the unusual newcomer, Emil and Elsa must help him avoid capture.
