Simran Hans Observer (UK) This bland, sombre love story from the director of The Lunchbox (2013) lacks that film's flavour. Rated: 2/5 Aug 4, 2019 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) It's an artful look at two misfit loners who find each other. But only just. Rated: 4/5 Aug 2, 2019 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator There are some nice touches, and the bustle of Mumbai is always fascinating, and the performances are good all-round, but whatever Batra hoped this would add up to it doesn't. Aug 1, 2019 Full Review Hosea Rupprecht Pauline Media Studies The loveliness of this film shines through in the openness each character has to the other person's good. Aug 12, 2021 Full Review Prahlad Srihari Firstpost Photograph is a slow-paced dramedy that can't quite transcend its setup. So, Batra ends up with a bland and meandering tale that is all foreplay and no climax. Jul 23, 2020 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV Simple, coherent and evocative. Janki S One of the most beautiful movies I have seen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review isla s This is quite a touching film - its quite subtle but that's by no means a bad thing. The story is intriguing and its very much a film about the social awkwardness felt by children/grandchildren at the expectations their relatives have for them and how they really feel. The script is good and the performances are good too. There's some amusing moments (lightly amusing, not big belly laugh funny but that's ok) and some thought provoking moments too. I liked the granny, what she said and how she acted at times - it made me smile. Its thought provoking and somehow rather poignant. I liked the imagery presented by what characters describe as being in their thoughts. Of course there's also some nice shots of the indian landscape - it gives a good insight into traditional Indian values I suppose. Generally I'd say it has a nice 'warmth' to it. Yes, I'd recommend this film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Best Movie Ever. Always love this Movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Good actor casting. All the actor's did wonderful job. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review james m The streets of Mumbai are the star attraction of this overly buttoned-down but well-made love story, and the scene-stealing grandma does her best to liven things up between the inert lead actors. Yet I still enjoyed it despite its lack of energy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member My absolute new favorite movie. It was so endearing. I found all the characters so damn interesting. Beautiful flick. Can't wait to see it again. The sooner the better. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
