Audience Member Hilariously bad TV movie that features William Shatner (in shameless-ham mode) as the patriarch of a pioneer family traveling across the plains, which includes child actress Helen Hunt in her film debut. Imagine if Ed Wood had made "Little House on the Prairie" and you get a pretty good picture of this film. Plus, you get to see the Shat with a big masculine mustache! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a made for TV movie that came out a couple of years after Star Trek was canceled. William Shatner was taking anything he could get to pay his bills. It's a story of a homesteader going west with his family after the Civil War. The movie was cheap and used a lot of stock footage of trains and wagon trains. It was supposed to take place in Indiana, Nebraska and Wyoming. They filmed it in Canada and there were way too many hills to be Nebraska or Wyoming. The wheat fields looked like tall grass. Wheat is green until harvest. In this movie the "wheat" is always yellow. When wheat turns yellow it's time to harvest. The only action in the movie is the wild fire towards the end of the movie. The movie is just a lot of over acting and scenes of people on wagons. In a way it's a non-violent version of Shane. The local rancher isn't a bad guy and actually tries to help the farmers. He just knows that you can't grow wheat in Wyoming. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
