Playing Beatie Bow is a marvelous change from the gross, self-centered attitudes to which most teen-pix pander. It is intelligent, funny, well-crafted and imaginative. And whether you are six or 106 you should find it refreshingly free of condescension. Go to Full Review

Hilde L Nov 6 Found this by chance 🙃 (it started auto-playing LOL) on prime ~ it is a supernatural mystery and adorably cute! Quality of the movie lacks a bit, it looks like a recording of a recording of an old VHS .. but still, watchable! Better find an original somewhere if possible for a watch though. An alternative film title is 'Time games' 1988. I love time travel back through history stories, and this was a well written one, now learning it was actually from a book by Ruth Park, it makes sense! The young Peter Phelps (Home & Away actor) playing Judah is gorgeous btw 😘 I don't really think its a good fit for today's youth though ~ but for us who grew up in the 80s and early 90s, its very nostalgic!👌 It is all about a teen named Abigail who sees a strange young girl who looks afraid, while in a park nearby lots of kids playing a game called 'Beatie Bow'... Through some weird happenings Abigail suddenly finds herself whisked away from the modern Australian life (mid 80s) and into the past ~ Victorian era Sydney ~ and to not spoiler anything in short: there is romance, intrigues, kidnapping, drama and a happy ending 😊 I also would say it is not appropriate to watch for the youngest kids ~ but 12 and above would be okay! See more 04/20/2012 For it's time, I'm sure it was an alright movie.. but in this day and age, the only time anyone would ever watch it would be because they were forced to for a school assignment. Like I was. Would not recommend. See more 07/03/2010 A great Austalian book brought to life. See more 12/04/2008 OMG I can't believe this movie is here... I wish I can find it in dvd. I saw it just once, years ago, but remember it very well. In fact... I wanted to call my daughter Abigail... but her father did not agree... Cruel world. See more Read all reviews
