Nigel Andrews Financial Times The hero and his support rockers, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, who co-directed and with Samberg co-wrote the script, are amiable, antic and tuneful. Rated: 3/5 Dec 27, 2016 Full Review Ed Potton Times (UK) It's not as funny as Spinal Tap (which film is?), but there are still a fistful of laugh-out-loud moments. Rated: 4/5 Oct 10, 2016 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) You probably need to spend more time than I do on sites such as TMZ to get all the jokes, but the film nails the oversharing banality of YouTube celebrity. Rated: 4/5 Aug 28, 2016 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping contains inspired and often hilarious jabs at today's pop music industry, but it's not a well-rounded movie, and certainly not this generation's This Is Spinal Tap. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 11, 2022 Full Review Victoria Luxford City AM Taking aim at spoilt young mega stars and their ridiculous indulgences, the familiar plot is lifted by the energy of the cast and a script thats as funny as it is observant. Rated: 4/5 Feb 18, 2022 Full Review Michael J. Casey Michael J. Cinema It's all surface ... but there are much worse ways to spend 86 minutes. Rated: 3/5 Jul 23, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Tracy J If you loved Andy Sandberg’s SNL shorts, this is it on steroids. This mockumentary with a million cameos makes me laugh out loud every time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/25/24 Full Review Audience Member Good movie, no John Cena. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review Tyler D Andy Samberg at his worst, playing an unbearable character who is too alike with how celebrities' are depicted. The satirical documentary is tremendously hard to watch, only people with no taste and a strong will, will enjoy watching it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/12/24 Full Review Lou T Spinning out from the success of The Lonely Island and SNL, Andy Sandburg, Skiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone began to try their hand at filmmaking. After their hit comedy, Hot Rod, the trio reunited for their second feature film, crafting a musical comedy reminiscent of their real-world boyband. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, utilizes the satirical parody music of The Lonely Island, but pairs it with a mockumentary filming style to capture the over-the-top madness of stardom. Leaving his boyband behind, Connor4Real embarks on a journey of his new solo career, while unknowingly attempting to cope with his friend group break-up. Through his journey of stardom, Connor consistently makes mistakes and accidentally causes misfortune for himself and those around him. While the right choice stares him in the face throughout the film, he has to discover his inner peace before he can be the man he wants to be. With not much else to the story, a never-ending list of cameos attempts to make up for the slower parts of the film. Though predictable in its story of highs and lows, the film succeeds with its parody music, poking fun at pop culture and 'tacky' thoughtless songs that somehow rise to fame. The writing trio does what they do best by creating truly humorous songs, that work on their own as well as in the narrative of the story. As the basis for The Lonely Island, the comedic hip-hop makes for the funniest and most clever moments of the film. While the story is forgettable, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is memorable for some of its catchy songs, which stick in your brain long after the credits role. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review Alec B Despite the hilarious dumb comedy (The TMZ spoof scenes are absolutely perfect), there's an interesting through line about how artistic collaboration is more rewarding and effective than trying to do everything yourself. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/14/23 Full Review Naomi L The Lonely Island is the best. Hilarious. I loved this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
