[An] assured, breezy romantic comedy. Go to Full Review

The film could have been edgier and more sharply observed. And since it deals with sex and intimacy, a little eroticism would have helped. Go to Full Review
Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times 01/28/2016
Despite a few inspired moments and some fun banter, "Portrait of a Serial Monogamist" is a slight, often random lesbian comedy that offers little new in the way of authentic depth or enlightenment. Go to Full Review

...there's no actual sex in this film, but there is a lot of witty conversation and observational humor, making it a sort of lesbian Seinfeld. Go to Full Review

Portrait of a Serial Monogamist is the kind of movie that proves inconsequential rom-coms aren't just for straight people. Go to Full Review

The film creates its best moments with quiet little details, like when Lolli finds herself the sole shiksa at a Shabbat dinner - it's the mirror image of the dinner scene in Annie Hall. Go to Full Review

06/24/2016 It's a little rough around the edges, but overall, Portrait of a Serial Monogamist is a light and breezy comedy about a woman who can't commit. The cast is made up of the whose who of Canadian comedy-you know, those people who look familiar, but you can't quite place-and a charming lead in Diane Flacks. Combined with fantastic shots of Toronto in all its constructed glory and a script that treats its audience as conspirators in the story, Portrait of a Serial Monogamist gives us that rare rom com that is sharp, on point and intelligent. See more 03/29/2016 Seeing Toronto and a queer scene outside of the established LGBT neighbourhood is beautiful and complex. Rarely do we get to see a city through the lives lived by its residents- nevermind artists, nevermind women- nevermind dykes!!! This is a unique and smart perspective. See more 03/21/2016 I was pleasantly surprised by this Canadian indie. It is well-written, and very funny, with good performances all around, particularly Diane Flacks in the leading role. A smart romantic comedy that never condescends. It's also a good-looking film, with beautiful cinematography, using Toronto as a central character. Well worth seeing.
