Ryan Gilbey New Statesman In taking his inspiration from Jimmy Savile, Holness has placed at the centre of his film the sort of bogeyman who could give even Michael Myers nightmares. Jan 26, 2019 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety The film has a striking aesthetic and atmospheric assurance that takes a particular British miserabilism into near-abstract terrain, not unlike Cronenberg's vaguely similar (if more rigorously plotted) "Spider." Nov 2, 2018 Full Review Pat Brown Slant Magazine In the end, there's little payoff for all the repetitive series of evocative visions and mute stares. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 28, 2018 Full Review Kat Halstead Common Sense Media This is a slow-burn psychological horror with surreal, nightmarish visuals that may not appeal to genre fans looking for fast, fun scares, but offers something uniquely disturbing instead. Jun 30, 2025 Full Review Jorge Loser Espinof ... One of the most unique and memorable films that the genre has produced in the past decade. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/5 Oct 30, 2024 Full Review Bianca Garner Filmotomy Atmosphere is well constructed, but never realizes the horrifying final confrontation with repressed trauma which is somewhat a letdown...the screenplay feels a little underdeveloped and sparse in places, and at some points the film feels stuck on repeat. Greenland K I enjoyed the prop design a lot, definitely had a few moments of lurking dread, mostly towards the end. Unfortunately, the movie was too caught up in trying to be abstract and artsy that it kind of lost the story. You can piece together what happened for the most part, but large parts of the story are never really wrapped up. The sexual abuse plot was suddenly thrust (no pun intended) into the story at the very end instead of subtly hinted at through the film which was jarring. The story telling was heavily lacking. I somewhat enjoyed the film, but I wouldn't recommend it to any friends or family members. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/21/25 Full Review Shannon B. It’s not for everyone, but I think it is very good. It presents you with a mentally ill man wandering through lifeless landscapes while you try to guess what’s actually going on. Don’t go in expecting a normal horror movie about an evil spider in a bag. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/13/25 Full Review Pauline G Sean Harris's performance was amazing. I was mesmerised by the film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/16/25 Full Review Angelique T Truly awful. Boring and scattered. A waste of time with horrible writing Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Jordan M. Boring most of the time. The best part of this movie was discussing it after and coming up with ideas of what the hell we just watched. This should be shown in a psychology class. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/07/25 Full Review MikesReviewsArt n 95% A pretty great messed up, psychological thriller. The aesthetic grimy look abandoned buildings looks like a Wasteland. The cinematography is great to get the British landscapes like the fields and some of the woods. The music atmospheric captures perfectly the looming dread that’s throughout the film. Messaging about guilt, sorrow carrying excess baggage confronting your own demons. Recommend it collection worthy! You can watch it free on Tubi, Xumo Play, Plex & Freevee.
