Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com An acquired taste, in all honesty a taste this critic didn't quite acquire. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 20, 2020 Full Review John Beifuss Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) One of the more distinctive films on the festival circuit, this is a sort of North Dakota noir so frozen it makes 'Fargo' look like 'Key Largo.' Audience Member A drifter wandering around North Dakota in a eat up station wagon during a harsh winter saves a man from freezing to death. He learns that the man was driving to pick up his pen-pal girlfriend who's being released from prison, so he decides to get rid of him and take his place. I pretty much hated this film. It really is the kind of slow, quirky character study I usually love, but something about the constant repetition of unexplained recurring dialogue and situations completely rubbed me the wrong way. I disliked all the characters and was fundamentally bored and annoyed by the whole experience. Features really beautiful desolate winter photography though. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Tedious "Prairie Love" extends a thimbleful of undeveloped character and story ideas over 81 minutes of presumed black-comedy drollery as flat as its frozen North Dakota tundra setting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The epitome of "quirky" - bizarre in the best possible way. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
