Vitoria F Great Christmas special, with action and adventure. The animation is very beautiful and the story is quite creative, at a level that Disney has not achieved nowadays. The sequels were even better. It deserved to have been a feature film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/17/22 Full Review Audience Member You know, the premise comes off as a bit of a prototype for Arthur Christmas, despite being made by different studios. Though they do have enough differences, despite some surface-level plot similaries, that it helps to avoid another Antz/A Bug's Life situation. While I do think that movie, probably because it has a longer runtime than 21 minutes, was executed better, Prep & Landing is still a great, if sometimes rushed, Christmas special. It has good voice acting, a creative take on elves' toy delivery (the comparisons to Aardman's masterpiece are unwarranted, you say?), well-executed character development and surprisingly good animation for a CGI TV special released in 2009 that, unlike DreamWorks' TV specials, wasn't using pre-existing character models from a feature film. Disney has had its share of Christmas material over the years that either hits or misses. And while I can say I've seen better Christmas movies and specials that came out after this, I can safely say Prep & Landing falls into the former category...but seriously though, how much of a coincidence is it that Arthur Christmas and this special's direct sequel came out around the same time? Why yes, I've come to the epiphany that I've taken a British animation studio known primarily for stop-motion for granted after some of their material I've seen this year genuinely exceeded my expectations (*cough* Robin Robin *cough*), why do you ask? Love how short it is to just give you a shot of good Christmas fun! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
