In the 19th century, a mysterious plague turns the English countryside into a war zone. No one is safe as the dead come back to life to terrorize the land. Fate leads Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James), a master of martial arts and weaponry, to join forces with Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley), a handsome but arrogant gentleman. Trasposizione leggera che, partendo dal romanzo da cui è tratta, concentra tutti i suoi sforzi nel tentare di unire nella breve durata di un film, tutte le dinamiche amorose che possono coinvolgere i personaggi (o almeno i protagonisti) e una serie di sequenze di azione con zombie dagli ottimi costumi ma non proprio centrali nella trama. Il risultato è un film sicuramente godibile che però finisce per non soddisfare realmente pochi spettatori; la differenza tra i due generi è molto ampia e non viene colmata, probabilmente la principale motivazione è la totale assenza di drammaticità che risulta artificiale e forzata; soprattutto perchè non supportata da un'ironia che avrebbe indirizzato la pellicola da un'altra parte. Il risultato finale è un film poco entusiasmante nonostante tutti i suoi sforzi e con un finale troppo epico per la scelta di restare in tema di commedia.

Looking for the best films for my private little Jane Austen Film festival, I stumbled upon this gem of P&P. I decided to suspend PREJUDICE and watch the entire movie, it's a bit gory, true, but stays true to form, and will appeal to younger audiences with the Miss Bennets in dresses doing amazing martial arts, which cannot hurt keep Miss Austen's name alive. Actually a fun version! Just try it!!

One of a kind. I fell in love with all the characters in the movie, even the villains. The movie has a lot of charm and originality, makes you laugh, makes your skin crawl, makes you wish there was a sequel... Also, Matt Smith does a brilliant job as a comic relief. Can we, please, get a sequel? Pretty please!

I don't how any one can give this movie less than a 4 star review it is exactly what it appears to be, Pride and Prejudice with zombies. If I had 1 complaint, and I do, I wish the zombies changed the Pride and Prejudice storyline more.

Synopsis
